About the event

This tour is free with an optional donation at the end to your guide. This 2 hour tour is led by Hank Orenstein, NYC Associate Real Estate Broker (with The Corcoran Group) and Professional NYC Tour Guide.  On this tour you will get to know the South Harlem real estate market along with the neighborhood's distinguishing features, the food scene, and other amenities.

Overview

Join us to explore one of NYC's most changed neighborhoods over the past decade, which also thankfully has maintained is historic architecture.  Frederick Douglass Boulevard between 113th and 123rd Street Street has become one of the city's premier restaurant rows with many sidewalk cafes and bakeries that include the famous Levain along with local small businesses. There is excellent public transportation plus nearly 1,000 acres of greenspace thanks to access to Central Park and Morningside Park.

Its convenience to midtown Manhattan (about 15 minutes by subway) has made it an increasingly popular neighborhood. The tour will cover the area's history and magnificent pre-war architecture along with the wide range of housing options on both the rental and purchase side in apartment building and townhouses.

One bedroom rentals start at $1,800 and go up to $3,000 and for buying you will need to spend $600,000 and up for a one bedroom. There are some studios and one bedrooms in the $200,000 and $300,000 range (many of these have income restrictions).  There are also full service condominiums wher 2 bedroom apartments start around $1 million.

Meeting Location: Outside Cafe Amrita. Arrive early if you will need a restroom - also serving coffee and other beverages, snacks, food.
